The Sentinel offers nonprofits and other community organizations the opportunity to promote upcoming events on the Community Calendar for free for three days prior to the event. Events requiring reservations can be promoted up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.

Events that require purchase from a for-profit company, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not calendar eligible.

• Ham supper take-out meal — Pick-up 4-6 p.m.,

October 8, Lower Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, 54 Church Road, Mifflin (Academia). The meal consists of ham with raisin sauce, mashed potatoes/gravy, candied sweet potatoes, corn, green beans and cake. The last day to pre-order is October 1 by calling (717) 319-4527.

• Pennsylvania School Retirees Association Mifflin County Chapter Luncheon – noon, Thursday, October 6, Birch Hill Event Center, Burnham. The program will feature CARIES’ Bill Wade speaking out on Medicare fraud. Menu: Caprese salad, ham, sweet potatoes, green beans with almonds, rolls, gingerbread with whipped topping. The cost is $14. Reserve, with a number of people in attendance, by emailing [email protected] or calling (717) 437-6024 before noon Friday, September 30. All school retirees are welcome.

• Free Community Meal — 11:30am-1pm, New Life Church, 101 N. Beech St., Burnham. Homemade corn soup, peanut butter sandwiches, fruit and dessert will be served.
