AARP Tax-Aide Ends Today

The Winchester AARP Tax-Aide service is shutting down as the tax filing deadline approaches. Federal and state tax returns are prepared free of charge at the War Memorial Building (WMB) at Jim Barnett Park, 1001 Cork St., Winchester, until Thursday, April 14. Opening days and hours are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 am. at 15h

Appointments can be scheduled by calling 540-227-0884 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Envelopes containing instructions and interview/intake sheets are available in the lobby of the War Memorial.

The following information should be brought to your appointment: completed interview/intake sheet (included in envelope packet), photo ID of taxpayer(s), social security cards for all persons listed on each return, all year-end tax documents (W-2s, 1099s, 1098s, etc.), and a copy of last year’s tax return. Reviewing the last tax year’s return can help you determine which documents were used and should be included.

Apple Blossom Parade Route Seats

Treasure Box Schedule Change

The Treasure Box Thrift Shop at Christ Episcopal Church, 114 Boscawen St., Winchester, will be closed on Friday and Saturday for the Easter weekend.

Surf & Lawn Spring Dinner

Reynolds Store Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company will be hosting a Surf & Turf dinner at 3 p.m. April 23 at the fire station at 9381 N. Frederick Pike, Cross Junction. The menu will include roast beef and fried catfish, au gratin potatoes, coleslaw, baked apples, homemade corn rolls, dessert and a drink. Cost: $15.

Bloomin’ Mile Kids, Valley Health 10K

The Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival partners with the Frederick County Department of Parks and Recreation for the return of the Shenandoah Valley Orthodontics Kids ‘Bloomin’ Mile and Valley Health 10K during the 95th Annual Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival. The Kids Bloomin’ Mile will take place at 4 p.m. on April 29. The cost to participate is $20. The Valley Health 10K is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on April 30. Early bird registration is $30. Both races will be held near Handley High School. To register, visit www.runatthetop.net.
