The Decorah Farmers Market opened for the 2022 season on Wednesday, May 4 and will run through the end of October. This year, the market will be open from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday and from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday. Find the market in the town parking lot on W. Day Spring Lane across from the post office.
On Wednesday, May 4, many local vendors were on hand with vegetables, plants, baked goods, meats and more. “We have missed our amazing customers and we look forward to another year of fresh, whole foods and community connection,” said Kristin Eggen, Farmers Market Manager. This will be Eggen’s third season as market leader.
“People might think that just because their garden isn’t planted yet, there won’t be anything to buy at the farmer’s market,” Eggen said, “but that’s far from the truth. Many of our farmers have worked hard in their greenhouses, producing delicious tender spinach and other green vegetables and perfect little seedlings. Farm fresh eggs will also be available. On top of that, meat, canned goods, and baked goods are always in season at the Farmer’s Market.
On Saturday, May 7, the Decorah Farmers Market will host an art market, featuring local artists alongside favorite market vendors. This family-friendly market will feature eight local artists, face painting, kids’ activities, insta-poems and live music from Slapdash Bluegrass from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The Decorah Farmers Market proudly accepts SNAP EBT and Double Up Food Bucks. Buyers wishing to use these payment methods can be assisted at the information table. Additionally, many vendors accept state-issued WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons.
Seniors who wish to sign up for Winneshiek Medical Center Seniors Nutrition Coupons can do so at the Farmers Market on Wednesday, June 8 from 3-4:30 p.m. or at the Seniors Center on Thursday, June 9 from 10-11:30 a.m. as Monday, June 20, from 11 a.m. to noon.
