The Orviston Community Celebration will take place on July 8 and 9 this year and to buy the fireworks for the end of the festival, the committee is hosting a chicken and waffle dinner. This year, the dinner will be held on Saturday, May 14 at the Beech Creek-Blanchard Fire Company social hall. The dinner will take place from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and the cost for anyone aged 9 and over is $10. Kids eight and under can eat for free. There will be both meals on site and takeaway meals. The Beech Creek Wesleyan Church will be hosting an egg hunt for area children on Sunday, April 10 at 1 p.m. at the church located at 217 Main Street in Beech Creek. For more information, call the church at 570-962-2732.

The Howard Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held Sunday, April 10 at 1 p.m. at the Community Park (next to the post office). There will be prizes and a visit from the Easter Bunny.

Millheim Fire Company will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt for children ages 0-12 on the Millheim Pool grounds on Saturday, April 16 at 12:30 p.m. Bring your own basket or bag to collect the eggs. The Easter Bunny will be there.


Pastor Chris Davis of Liberty Baptist Church in Blanchard invites the public to join him and his wife, Greta, for special services during the Easter season.

This Sunday, April 10, there will be a Palm Sunday service beginning at 10:15 a.m.

On Thursday, April 14, at 7 p.m., there will be a service of prayer and reflection for Maundy Thursday.

On Good Friday, April 15, at 9 a.m. there will be a Sacrificial Breakfast for Women. Please confirm your attendance at 570-962-2214 by noon on April 14 if you plan to attend.

Also on Good Friday at 10.30am there will be the Cross Walk with the congregation and all who wish to join carrying the cross from the church to Sayers Dam where there will be a devotional time.

On Easter Sunday morning at 10:15 a.m. there will be a worship service celebrating the resurrection and our new birth in Jesus.



The Friendship Community Center in Beech Creek will be hosting an Easter Bazaar tonight, April 8th. The bazaar will run from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Around 15 different vendors are already planning to attend. There are a few tables left if anyone is interested in participating in the bazaar. Tables will cost $10 each and you can reserve table space by calling Sandi at 570-962-2397.

The FCC will be selling Kiwanis Spring Raffle tickets at the bazaar to raise funds for a new wheelchair ramp and sidewalk.

The Howard Christian Church will be hosting an Easter Bazaar tomorrow, April 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Walnut Street Church in Howard. The homemade pie will be sold by the pint for $8.50 and can be pre-ordered by calling Sheri at 814-876-2910. The bazaar will also feature baked goods (pies, cakes and breads), Easter candies, crafts and more.

Valerie Wynn from the Loganton area will be there to sell her homemade Easter eggs. Valerie offers many different egg flavors and sizes.

Proceeds from the bazaar will be used by the church to help people in the community in financial need.


Curtin Village will host an Easter egg roll and Easter bonnet parade at the Curtin Mansion in Howard on April 9 from 2-4pm Bring your own hard-boiled eggs for the roll at 2pm and wear your decorated bonnet or hat for the parade at 3:30 a.m. There will be prizes, food trucks, croquet and family fun. Bring your lawn chair. The rainy date will be April 10.

Logan Fire Company in Bellefonte will be holding a draw for ATVs and firearms on April 9 at 4 p.m. Tickets are $20 each and are available from any fire company member. The ATV is a 2022 Polaris Sportsman 570 EPS. The draw will take place via Facebook live. Visit for more information.

The Liberty Township Sportsmen’s Club of Marsh Creek will hold a bunny hunt on April 9 at the skeet ground located at 1140 Marsh Creek Road, Howard. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and filming runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $15 to participate. Call Gary at 814-441-8952 for more information.

There will be a hunter safety course at the Athletes Pavilion on April 9 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants must be 11 years old by April 9 to register. Head to the Liberty Township Sportsmen’s Association website and click on the tab to register, which should take you directly to the PA Game Commission website. Millheim Fire Company will host a Palm Sunday brunch at the fire station on April 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The menu will be pancakes, scrambled eggs and ham, sausage and potato casserole, pepper, onion and cheese omelets, creamed beef jerky on toast, fruit, baked goods and beverages. Cemetery cleaning

The cleaning of the Schenck cemetery located in Howard Township will take place this week. Please remove any decorations that you would like to keep. All items will be removed and placed in the trash during the cleaning process.

The cleaning should be finished by mid-week (weather permitting) and you can then put up new decorations for the Easter weekend.


The Bald Eagle Valley Community Church will be hosting a ham and chicken pot pie sale on Monday, April 11. The pie comes in freezable plastic containers and costs $8 a pint. Bread is included with the pie. Pre-orders are requested by calling Janette at 814-883-0893. Pick-up and payment for your orders will be done via a drive-in procession through the church parking lot beginning at 4 p.m. on April 11. This is the last pie sale at the church until the fall months. The church is located at 111 Runville Road, Bellefonte, which is directly behind the Sheetz store in Wingate.

The Howard Area Lions will be holding a Red Cross blood drive at the Howard Fire Station on Wednesday, April 13, from 1:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Lions Bingo will take place on Thursday evening, April 14, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Beech Creek Fire Company social hall. Doors and kitchen open at 5 p.m.

Logan Grange #109 in Pleasant Gap will be hosting a soup sale on Saturday, April 23 starting at 10 a.m. The soup flavors are ham and beans, chicken, corn noodles, and chili.

The Center Hall Fire Company will hold an outdoor flea market at its station’s new grounds at 134 N. Witmer Ave. on the following dates: 22 and 23 April; May 27 and 28; June 24 and 25; July 22 and 23; September 23 and 24 and October 21 and 22. The cost for both days is $20.00 for a 20’x20′ space. UM Church in the Bald Eagle Valley Community will be hosting a spaghetti dinner on Sunday, April 24. The cost is $10 per person (kids under 5 are free) and you have a choice of two dinner times – 4pm or 6pm. for the benefit of the Living Nativity. The Back Porch String Band will host their Country Jam on Sunday, April 24 at the Howard Fire Station. The jam session will take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. A donation basket is passed with proceeds to benefit the fire company. The Howard Community Garage Sale will be held May 6-7. This garage sale always takes place the first full weekend (Friday and Saturday) in May.
