My Leader Yummy: Praline Sweet Potatoes, Golden Honey Rolls | Receipts



When planning your Thanksgiving dinner, it’s not just the turkey that makes the holiday meal so special. Often the side dishes are as important as the favorite turkey and dressing.

Baked sweet potatoes are a side dish that has become popular over the years. But until you’ve had a serving of Praline Sweet Potatoes, you don’t know what you’ve been missing.

And, no holiday meal is complete without some homemade rolls, so I recommend this recipe for Golden Honey Rolls. Your family and friends will love the jumbo rollers. They are so light and fluffy, and sweetened with honey!


2 cups mashed sweet potatoes

4 tablespoons of milk

2 egg yolks

1/2 teaspoon of salt

Pinch of pepper

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

4 tablespoons butter, melted

4 tablespoons corn syrup

4 tablespoons chopped pecans

In a small bowl, combine the sweet potatoes, milk, egg yolks, salt and pepper. Transfer to a greased 4 cup shallow baking dish.

In small microwave-safe bowl, combine brown sugar, butter and corn syrup until blended; cover and microwave on high power 1 minute or until sugar is dissolved.

Pour over sweet potatoes and sprinkle with pecans. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 20 to 22 minutes or until knife comes out clean. Makes 4 servings.



2 packets of yeast

1 cup lukewarm water

2 tablespoons shortening or butter

1/2 teaspoon of salt

1 egg

1/3 cup sugar

3 cups flour


1/3 cup sugar

2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted

1 tablespoon of honey

1 egg white, beaten

Combine yeast and water; add shortening or butter, salt, egg and sugar; to mix together. Add the flour, one cup at a time. Let stand until doubled in size, about 45 minutes.

Turn out and knead on a floured surface, adding a few tablespoons of flour as needed. Pinch off 12 equal amounts of dough and roll into balls and place in a greased 11×7 inch pan and let rise again in a warm place for about 25-30 minutes, or double in size.

Mix all the ingredients for the frosting until smooth. Pour icing mixture over rolls, then bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Makes a dozen large fluffy rolls.
