Railway workers invited to participate

breakfast meeting Thursday

CHESTER – All railway workers are invited to attend breakfast at EJ’s restaurant, located at 807 Carolina Avenue, scheduled for Thursday.

All retired and current railway workers and craftsmen are invited to attend the meetings which take place on the third Thursday of the month at 11 a.m. at EJ’s.

Grace’s Cupboard pantry is set to open on Thursday

STEUBENVILLE – Grace’s Cupboard, the Grace Lutheran Church pantry at 2105 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville, will be open Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Future dates are subject to change, according to a church spokesperson.

Auxiliary VFD East Springfield

fundraising dinner on Sunday

EAST SPRINGFIELD – The East Springfield Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will be hosting a pork loin fundraiser dinner Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fire Hall, l9845 County Road 39.

Dinner includes a pork loin, baked potatoes, corn, cottage cheese or applesauce, a bun and dessert. The cost is $ 10. Guests can dine in or take out. Delivery will be available. To place an order or request delivery, call (740) 543-3563. The fundraiser will include a 50-50 drawing.

Tri-State Marine Corps

Auxiliary aids Toddler toys

WEIRTON – The Tri-State Marine Corps Club met with President Shirley Brecht on October 11 calling the meeting to order.

Chaplain Mary Ann Smith led the prayer, which included prayers for those whose names were provided by Marcy Spano, secretary.

A report on the sympathy cards sent on behalf of the club was submitted. Brecht led the members in the engagement to the flag. Vice President Darlene Kemp called the roll call and Spano read the September meeting minutes, which were approved as read. The treasurer’s report was also delivered and approved.

The group voted to donate to the Toys for Tots program. Veterans Day will be celebrated on November 11 and Spano will lay the wreath on behalf of the auxiliary.

The auxiliary voted to keep the current roster of officers for two more years. at the suggestion of Edith Truax, Nominations Chair.

Refreshments were provided by the attendant. Barbara Glessner won the design 50-50 and donated it to the Treasury. The next meeting will be on November 8 at 6 p.m. at the VFW room in Weirton.

Wintersville Church Offering

candy or spell festivities on October 30

WINTERSVILLE – The Church of the Nazarene in Wintersville at 377 Longvue Drive, Wintersville will offer free cider and donuts while the kids have fun on October 30 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Church officials will hand out candy and kids can make a craft to take away at the free event.
