Ree Drummond has an old-fashioned tuna noodle casserole recipe that makes the perfect comforting weekday dinner. The pioneer woman star said the Easy Meal can be prepared ahead and reheated when you’re pressed for time.

Ree Drummond loves a great casserole recipe

Drummond demonstrated how to prepare his tuna noodle casserole recipe in an episode of The pioneer woman. “Comfort starts with ‘C’ and ‘C’ means pan. Just saying the word casserole really warms my soul, ”she explained. I have been a fan of them all my life.

How to Make an Easy Ree Drummond Tuna Noodle Casserole

Drummond shared the process of making his tuna noodle casserole recipe, starting with the “base”. She sautéed finely chopped mushrooms and diced onions in butter. “I’m going to make a really thick and rich sauce out of it,” Drummond explained.

She sprinkled with flour and mixed everything, then added sherry. “Talk about a comforting flavor for me. Every time my mom made a creamy noodle casserole, she would add a touch of sherry to it, ”said the Food Network host. “Every time I taste it, I have the same feeling.”

Then she added milk, salt and pepper and thickened the sauce on the fire. Drummond added albacore tuna, diced red peppers and parsley. “I love the burst of red in this pan,” explained Drummond. “Let’s face it, the tuna noodle casserole isn’t bright in color. It’s pretty beige all around.

As for the noodles, Drummond admitted she was a purist. “You have to use egg noodles with a tuna noodle casserole dish,” she explained. “You can’t use anything fancy like penne or mostaccioli. “

Drummond poured everything into a buttered casserole dish. “There is solace everywhere,” she said. For “a bit of a crunch,” Drummond sprinkled a mixture of panko breadcrumbs, butter and parsley on top.

She baked the casserole in a 400 degree Fahrenheit oven for 25 minutes and served it with a simple side salad and French bread.

‘The Pioneer Woman’ Star Takes a New Twist on Classic Noodle Casserole

Drummond also gives an improved spinach and artichoke version on a tuna noodle casserole. “This easy dinner is like a warm hug,” she wrote on The Pioneer Woman’s website in 2020. “This casserole reminds me of a simpler, nicer time. Hope you feel the same! “

Drummond melts the butter in a skillet and adds the garlic, cooking for 1 minute. Then she adds the spinach and cooks it briefly until wilting, removes it from the pan and adds the artichokes, cooking for a few more minutes.

Finally, she folds in the tuna, spinach, artichokes, parsley and cooked egg noodles, then pour them into a baking dish. Drummond covers it with a panko mixture and bakes it for 25 to 30 minutes in an oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
