Restaurant Roundup: Dive Bar Tour, New Brunch, Maribella’s Menu

Several dive bars are joining forces on Saturday for a dive bar crawl/poker run. Start and stop at any location, and return your poker sheet at your last stop. Pull an ace at any bar and win a free beer. Participating bars are Corner Pub, The Garage Bar, Gaslight Lounge, Hi-Ho Bar, JJ’s Billiards & Darts, Ken’s Korner and The log cabin. You can visit on your own or pay $35 to ride a bus. Stop by the Hi-Ho or Log Cabin soon to reserve a spot.

Oh my cupcakes begins Besties Brunch events with two seats every Saturday at the east side location. The two-hour gathering includes fruits, meats, cheeses and sweets, with, of course, cupcakes. Choose “tipsy” with bottomless mimosas and wine-based sips for $65 or “temperance” with soft drink options for $50. Seating is at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The first are this week. Order your tickets at

The bakery has also extended its free Monday delivery to include Tuesday through Saturday this month. Locations must be located within 13 km of a cupcake kitchen.

New Maribella Ristorante opened in Washington Square at 360 S. Main Ave. Hours of operation are 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. A customer favorite at Bread & Circus Sandwich Kitchen is back for the freezing season. This year’s ramen is a Sapporo broth with Chashu pork belly, shrimp, bamboo shoots, corn, soy eggs, butter, and scallions. Other new additions include a hot open-faced beef sandwich, SoDak Burger with grass-fed Black Angus beef from Dakota Grasslands, and spicy Korean BBQ noodles.

From Tuesday on, Wood-fired pizza from Papa Woody brings back a seasonal favorite. The Gobbler starts with your choice of crust and is loaded with mashed potatoes and gravy, pulled turkey, sweet corn, stuffing and more turkey gravy. It is topped with cheddar cheese and cranberry sauce. Last year’s version is shown here without the cranberry sauce.

Here’s the return of another customer favorite. Poppy’s Popcorn Co. is serving its Movie Night Special for Fridays and Saturdays for this weekend and probably a few after that. Get a large bag of caramel popcorn and a large bag of cheddar for $10 or an extra large bag for $15.

New limited time menu items have arrived from The Saucy Boyz from Remedy Brewing Co. Remedy’s Not Yet Famous Bowl features mashed potatoes, popcorn chicken, corn, homemade gravy, and shredded cheese blend. POP flatbread contains sun-dried tomato pesto, Kalamata olives, prosciutto, mozzarella, arugula and basil oil. Hank’s Dank Burrito comes with a choice of house-smoked pork or vegan chorizo. Don’t want the tortilla? Place it in a bowl. The grilled cheese sandwich has american, pepper jack and provolone on sourdough and comes with curry ketchup.

Chief Lance on Phillips has an appetizer and two starters on the November function menu. Get four giant handmade ravioli stuffed with ricotta, mozzarella and parmesan cheese with a marinara of red peppers and fresh basil. Entrees are Tuscan chicken, which is fried thighs with mashed potatoes and a sun-dried tomato and caper cream sauce, and Cajun steak and shrimp with 6-ounce beef tenderloin and Jumbo shrimp with blistered tomatoes and Cajun butter on a bed of mashed potatoes.

Chief Omar Thorton has a pop-up jambalaya stream at Glacial Lakes Distillery and Brewery from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday. It will have spicy sausage, chicken, shrimp, rice and more in the dish. Tickets are $15. Pre-orders are available here, or pay cash that day.

Rudy M. Navarrete’s Tex-Mex Caterer has a new addition to its rotating spotlights for the winter. Starting this week, it will be Blind Butcher Brewing Co. near Inwood, Iowa, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the second and fourth Fridays of the month. Navarrete offers its Rudy’s taco bus menu. The brewery at 2167 Buchanan Ave. serves its beers via a tap system where customers pay by the ounce. He also has a liquor license.

Sit back and watch the football at let it fly and enjoy the special pre-match platter every Saturday and Sunday. Get two chicken tenders, four mac and cheese bites, four mozzarella sticks and four jalapeno poppers for $14. Traditional wings are also available for $1 a wing.

Buffalo Ridge Brewing Co. in Hartford is holding a blood drive on Tuesday for the community blood bank. Give a pint of blood and get a pint of beer. Schedule changes, service

  • Cafe with a view of the falls will be open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. until Sunday, then close for a week to prepare for the kickoff of Winter Wonderland in Falls Park. From November 18 to January 31, hours will be 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. The café will offer a full menu, as well as hot drinks, beer, wine and ice cream.
  • Remember that Saturday is the last day for Miner Brewing Co. and Prairie Berry Winery Tasting Room. The business on the south side of the Western Mall announced today that its shelves were restocked and distribution lines were full.
  • Harrisburgers in Harrisburg is no longer open in the evening. Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
  • T-Juanita Street Food and Cheladas is facing a staff shortage and will no longer be open on Mondays “until further notice”. Hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
  • New fall and winter hours have started Glacial Lakes Distillery and Brewery: Monday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday to Thursday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 2 p.m. to midnight, Saturday from noon to midnight and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
