Tangled Tumbleweed gives diners a taste of the world | Local

“We’re definitely a party hangout, but we get tons of families, lots of travelers, especially during the summer,” Montoya said. He described the restaurant as having a “fun evening atmosphere”. “We have a very high turnover rate (at the restaurant), so the food comes out quickly. If we have people here on a date night they will usually hang around for a while, but there are a lot of people here who are just in-out, in-out,” he said.

A team of ten people, including only two chefs, take care of the customers. They host several events throughout the year, from bridal showers to graduation receptions. Other special events, open to the public, include an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party and a “Wigs and Wine” party. In both cases, waiters distribute prizes based on which sweater or wig they prefer.

A more recent event, which just started last summer, is called Cigars on the Patio. On Thursdays after 4:00 p.m., diners can enjoy cigars and whiskey on the restaurant terrace. If they buy a cigar at the store, they get a discount on the whiskey. The restaurant has active social media accounts and advertises these events, as well as new specials, online.

“We want to be a place people want,” Montoya said. “When people say, ‘I want wine and I’m hungry for something’ or ‘I want to have a beer and a good cocktail,’ we want to be the place that comes to mind.”
