Get ready to stamp your passport, because Metta Sol’s delicious Peruvian herbal-rich Peruvian menu will take you on a trip to Lima.

The Goodwood gem has announced that the first stop on this year’s feed-me travel series will be the aptly named Peru Pachamama. For those of you who don’t know the name, Pachamama is a goddess worshiped by the indigenous people of the Andes. In Inca mythology, she is an “Earth Mother” type goddess and a fertility goddess who presides over planting and harvesting.

Pachamama’s Feed-me menu will let you try crispy corn kernels, potato causa, creamy potato ceviche, mushrooms and oyster mushrooms with tiger plant milk, yuca fries cooked in the oven, cilantro mayonnaise, arroz con coliflor, rice with mixed vegetables, pickled onions, huacaina mayonnaise and tempeh saltado, rice, sautéed mushrooms with onions, sautéed green beans. Finally, tejas, dates with caramel stuffed with nuts, chocolate, roasted nuts, lucuma ice cream. Wow!

The travel series was once a plant-based coffee staple, but once COVID hit, the series went on hiatus. The restaurant has already visited several countries such as Italy, Greece, India, France and Malaysia.

Owner David expressed his excitement for the return of the travel series after 2 years, saying that “it’s a great way to rediscover all the cuisine of your favorite country, without having to leave the country.

“The goal of the travel series was to give people an authentic dining experience, while collaborating with local cooks, chefs and friends,” says David.

This first leg of the 2022 travel series has been created in collaboration with friends Claudia and Angelica, who will be inspired by their mothers’ home cooking.

Angelica’s family roots are in La Sierra, the central highlands of Peru. Many of his favorite childhood foods are traditional hot, hearty dishes enjoyed in cooler weather at high altitudes.

She remembers her mother making a traditional Lomo Saltado (Peruvian beef stir-fry) every winter and creating a saltado using tempeh and mushrooms to bring out even more of the umami flavors she loves.

Having several family members who are vegan, Angelica is an expert at whipping up delicious substitutions for traditional meat dishes that will have you scrambling for seconds.

Claudia is a Peruvian born in Aruba, raised in Australia and passionate about good food. Having moved to Australia at a young age, Claudia maintains her strong connection to her roots by cooking traditional Peruvian recipes every Sunday with her mum Nancy.

Having ancestry from Cusco and La Selva (the Amazon jungle), Claudia is familiar with a variety of Peruvian dishes and is happy to share her arroz con coliflor, a plant-based variation of the meal that brings her home.

Metta Sol promises to reward two years of patience with an evening of good music, good vibes and even better food.
